“I have very little time left in San Fran, what nearby states should I travel to next ?” were my thoughts before booking a last minute flight to Seattle. Short trips such as this can be draining but they appeal to me the most. I think I like all the planning and being able to keep things well organized in a short amount of time. It’s challenging but fun.
Seattle is beautiful. I got to do a lot of sightseeing and I also drove a couple of hours to Portland. Here’s some captured moments of places I visited over the 3 day trip.
My first order of business after landing was to get food!
I had brunch at a restaurant called The Fat Hen. I love cute little shops because they often have the best décor. I ordered a tomato based egg bake, served in a small skillet, with a yummy grapefruit mimosa.
Places I Visited
The Space Needle – If you’ve seen pictures of the Seattle skyline you’ve already seen this attraction. You ride in a see through elevator that goes up a thousand feet high to the top deck where you can observe the city. You can order snacks, drinks, sit indoors and take in the view, or walk around outdoors.
Museum of POP – a museum for contemporary pop culture. I loved the prince exhibit.
Original Starbucks House built in 1971. I’m not the biggest coffee drinker but I do like to drink it from time to time. Also, I used to work at Starbucks for maybe 5 months so it’s always nice to reminisce when visiting any location. I have always liked the food options at Starbucks. Here I think I ordered something just to order something lol
The Nest – really nice rooftop bar, great city views overlooking pike place market
I had a drink and grilled chicken kabob
I found this popular food spot called Cartopia. They have all types of cuisines from Mexican, Mediterranean, and Italian. I ordered a watermelon agua fresca at Krazy cups and Cafe and some wings from Chicken and Guns. The best wings! grilled and well seasoned.
Rocky Butte – Nice park overlooking Mt.Helen and Mt. Hood. I loved the openness and unobstructed views. I had no idea those are active volcanoes. I read that the volcano would not erupt anytime in our lifetime but science can say one thing, i say mother Nature has the last word.
Willamette River Walkway – Portlands riverwalk located downtown
Departure – Hotel with rooftop bar and restaurant. I had the kimchi fried rice and a cocktail.
Voodoo Donut – a late night spot with unique donut toppings like “captain my captain”
Keep Portland Weird Sign – across from voodoo
Biscuit Bitch – really good breakfast spot, it is small, try the hot mess bitch lol
Amazon Spheres– I wanted to take the tour inside but they were closed. People actually work inside and they offer tours to the public during specific times. I can only imagine how peaceful it is to work in that kind of environment everyday
I stopped and grabbed green tea in this cool retro restaurant with pastel and gold accents with marble countertops, called Willmott’s Ghost. They offer full meals and drinks also. It’s located at the back of amazon spheres
Kerry Park – nice park for walking, reading, and has a great view of the Seattle skyline
Waterfront Park – seafood heaven, lots of shops and restaurants around the pier. I rode on the Seattle great wheel and eat seafood at the crab pot Seattle. Seafood boils always look so appetizing. I always have intentions on trying it but I back out, I went for salmon instead smh lol
Powell City of Books – located in portland, largest independent bookstore in the world. I didn’t make it here but I wrote it down to check out. It’s funny I unintentionally drove past it on the way back to Seattle.
I wish I could have seen Mt. Rainier but it was too cloudy. If I could go back to Seattle I would definitely try to make it to Summit House Restaurant, a restaurant on a mountaintop. The closest view of Mt Rainier you can get without hiking. There’s other activities you could do there too like horseback riding, hiking, skiing, gondolas rides, etc.
