The year 2015 was a really great year for me. I also got to work in Houston which became one of my favorite projects yet. I have soo many great memories of Houston, there’s too many to count. I traveled by car in the fall. It was a 12 hour car ride from Georgia – my second nonstop 12 hour drive and hopefully last. My sister accompanied me which was nice to have someone with me. I drove nearly most of the way, she only drove 4 hours – I will never let her forget that lol. I stayed at the Wyndham hotel in Medical Center which was only a short 10 minute walk to work and this would be my home for the next several months. I knew this would be a fun project because I had my sister with me who lived there and a lot of people I loved working with in PA were also on this project which is rare.
Houston is a major city so there is unlimited options of entertainment and restaurants. The weather was beautiful 80 percent of the time I was there. I know it’s known to be a “when it rains it pours” kind of city but believe it or not, I think it rained hard a few times the entire time I was there, nothing too depressing. You know how the weather effects our moods, when its cold & rainy we tend to stay indoors but when it’s 80 degrees, sunshine, and there’s a cool breeze, you want to be out and about. Oh I definitely went out. A lot lol. I can’t even begin to tell you all the clubs I’ve been to. Some could still be around or closed but I had so much fun dressing up every weekend and pretty much partied with my partner and crime. I hung out with my co workers too.
Memorable Moments
Me turning a quarter century, my coworkers and I dancing in the parking lot at top golf just like Drake in hotline bling, keeping our tradition of going to strip clubs alive, me and a co worker riding top down on the highway after midnight yelling at the top of our lungs, surprising my younger sister with a trip to Houston and going to Beyoncé’s Formation tour together. Laughing around with my sister on the long ass walk back from Texas rodeo, bi-weekly visits to Secret escape nail shop, karaoke night at prospect park singing Destiny’s child soldier and the crowd was lit lol. last minute galleria mall runs with my sister to find those cute accessories or outfits for the night, going to bars + shopping in rice village.

I took 3 trips out of Houston. One trip to New Orleans, Fort Myers, and one not far from Houston, Galveston. I wasn’t on my quest to visit 50 states then – I wish I was. At this time it was more of visiting new states by chance through work but that was ok with me, I was having so much fun enjoying my time in Houston.
Galveston Texas is really nice. It took me maybe an hour or so to get there by car. I stayed at the Tremont house hotel for two nights. I already took a trip to NYC by myself earlier in the year so by now I was comfortable with the idea of traveling solo. I loved seeing the palm trees and clear skies. I went to the roof top of the hotel, had a White Russian and small snack. I walked around the city for a little bit taking pictures of the many gorgeous Victorian homes. I stopped at a couple local shops just window shopping, eating small snacks here and there. For lunch I stopped at The Original Mexican Cafe. I went to Pleasure Pier – an old-fashioned waterfront amusement park. I rode the Ferris wheel and had funnel cake because why not.
Lastly before turning in, I walked the beach and had dinner at Fish Tales
The next morning I ordered room service and then I made the drive back. It was nice to do something different. And I think at that time I realized how important it is to the take advantage of your advantages and how using points goes a really long way. I stayed at the Tremont house for free using points!
