After leaving the beautiful city of Houston in March I was so sad, I didn’t want to leave! I was having so much fun. Philly in March was dark, gray, and cold. The atmosphere seemed so serious compared to the sun, fun and warmth of the southwestern state. But everything was soon about to change. Even though I didn’t love it at first , the city grew on me the next 5 months I was there. It became a second home. I stayed at the Marriott center city just for a month or so before moving into a resident housing apartment – this is very rare, all my projects I stay in hotels. I was trying to save money, girl’s got debt to pay down.
I had already been to Philly on a day trip the previous year. A few of my co workers and I drove an hour to Philly for the day. We got to ride around the city on a double decker bus jumping on and off visiting historic landmarks. I didn’t know it was so much political history here. We saw Betsy Ross house – birthplace of the American flag, grave site of Ben Franklin, We saw the liberty bell at Independence Hall – this is where the Declaration of Independence & US constitution was signed (History fact: The declaration is not located in Philly, it’s in DC),we watched people run up and down the rocky steps, made a stop in Chinatown, debated which food to try from the many selections at Reading Terminal Market – A large enclosed public market. Walked around center city – passing the Will Penn statue atop City Hall.
Visiting Philly the year before was nothing compared to being there full-time. It was like starting over. I met some incredible people at work and the next several months were spent building memories to last a lifetime. Here’s some captured moments of different places & food around the city.
