I really enjoyed my time on the Caribbean island of Bahamas. Only a 2 hour flight away from Atlanta, this was the perfect weekend getaway. I think I need to make more effort in the future to visit more tropical locations. The weather was warm and toasty but enjoyable. Skies were sunny and cloudless. The ocean water was the most vibrant hue of emerald green and cobalt blue.
We ate flavorful Bahamian dishes, sipped from coconuts filled with pina colada while enjoying the sweeping ocean views. Most of our days, if not all, were spent at the beach. Can you blame us? lol It was nice to simply kickback and relax, with the exception of a day filled with aquatic adventures such as; swimming with the nurse sharks and feeding the wild pigs and iguanas, sunbathing on a secluded island, exploring an underwater plane wreck from the 80s, and visiting the Queen’s Staircase: A limestone staircase made in the 17th century in honor of Queen Victoria’s help in the abolition of slavery.
What I loved most was the balance between having chill lazy days on the beach one moment and then next we’re off to explore a historical landmark and partake in water activities. For someone that tends to gravitate towards backcountry, mountainous, foresty type trips, (which I am still trying to understand lol) I am looking forward to another Caribbean vacation.
